Chicago, Ill. – July 25, 2023 – The Northern League has announced its weekly awards, as Tyler Schultz (Purdue Northwest / Hobart, Ind.) of the Lake County Corn Dogs has been named Northern League Player of the Week and Alex White (Wisconsin Whitewater / Downers Grove, Ill.) of the Griffith Generals has been named NL Pitcher of the Week.

Schultz hit a go-ahead grand slam that gave the Corn Dogs the late lead against the Generals on Saturday, a lead that stood for the game’s duration. Five of his six hits this week went for extra bases as he compiled a .462 batting average while scoring six runs, driving in eight and walking twice.

White logged six innings of four-hit ball while walking two and striking out six against the Elkhart County Miracle on Thursday. He permitted only one unearned run in his victory.

White becomes the first member of the Generals to win a weekly award this season, while Schultz is the fourth Corn Dog to be named the league’s Player of the Week. The last time a Generals player won a weekly award was Michael Gould on July 25 of last season. White becomes the first General to be named the league’s Pitcher of the Week since Matt Dinkel on July 26, 2021.

The league will continue to announce to announce its weekly awards on each Monday or Tuesday throughout the season.
