Chicago, IL – January 2, 2013 – The Midwest Collegiate League announced today that the Lexington Snipes Summer Collegiate Baseball Club have become the newest member of the MCL and are set to begin play for the 2013 season. 


The Lexington Snipes www.lexingtonsnipes.com will join the DuPage County Hounds, Chicago Zephyrs, Northwest Indiana Oilmen, Rockford Foresters and the Southland Vikings of the Midwest Collegiate League a nationally recognize summer college league.  The Snipes have a history of organizational success and an established reputation in the Bloomington-Normal Illinois market.  The League hopes to announce additional expansion markets in the near future. 


“We are extremely excited to welcome the Snipes and their owner Billy Dubois into our League, stated Commissioner Don Popravak. “The Bloomington-Normal Illinois market offers the Midwest Collegiate League an ideal location which is easily accessible from the Interstate Highway.  It fits perfectly with our plans to build a Cape Cod like summer collegiate league from both a talent and geographic footprint,” said Popravak who added “with shorter travel distances it will also cut down on the expenses associated with overnight trips helping our clubs manage their operating costs.”  He further added “we believe that the Midwest Collegiate League will be an attractive destination for the best college baseball players from all over the country because of its great location,” stated Popravak. 

The Midwest Collegiate League will play a 10 week 46 game schedule beginning playing on May 30th with a post season league playoff.   Additionally, the League will feature a mid season All-Star Game to showcase the top talent in the league.
