After an exciting week of Midwest Collegiate League baseball that included the 2019 MCL All-Star Game, the MCL has announced the seventh pair of weekly award winners, with one Panther and one Oilman represented among the honorees.

The Crestwood Panthers’ Mike Machnic (Kankakee Community College / Walkerton, Ind.) secured the Player of the Week award while the Northwest Indiana Oilmen’s Jonathan Vesevick (College of DuPage / Wheaton, Ill.) won the Pitcher of the Week award.

Machnic had a great week at the plate, posting a .556 batting average while notching four RBIs on five hits. His two-RBI single in the first inning on Friday, July 12 helped the Panthers get ahead early in their 10-2 win over the Joliet Generals.

Vesevick was impressive in his one start this week against the Crestwood Panthers. His seven-inning, 11 strikeout performance helped lead his team to a 13-1 victory and moved the Oilmen to second place in the Midwest Collegiate League. Vesevick allowed only one run in his outing on three hits while walking just three batters.
