Chicago, Ill. – Aug. 2, 2022 – The Northern League has announced its weekly award winners for the penultimate week of the 2022 regular season.

Cain Headrick (Lewis / Custer Park, Ill.) of the Northwest Indiana Oilmen was named the league’s Player of the Week, while Zach Beerling (Beloit College / Munster, Ind.) of the Lake County Corn Dogs was tabbed the league’s Pitcher of the Week.

Headrick went 9-for-19 (.474) and posted a .789 slugging percentage while recording two doubles and two triples over four games this week. He drove in seven runs and scored four times while also walking once and stealing a base.

Beerling logged seven shutout innings of three-hit ball in a 6-0 win over the Joliet Generals on Wednesday. He walked one and struck out two to earn the victory, improving his season record to 3-0 in three starts.

The league will announce its final weekly awards for the 2022 season on Monday, Aug. 8.
