Chicago, Ill. – July 25, 2022 – The Northern League has announced its weekly awards for this past week by recognizing a pair of standout performers.

Michael Gould (Maryville / Naperville, Ill.) of the Joliet Generals was named the league’s Player of the Week, while Charlie Faoro (Christian Brothers / Homewood, Ill.) of the Crestwood Panthers was named the league’s Pitcher of the Week.

Gould went 7-for-17 with nine runs scored and nine RBIs this week, drawing four walks and stealing two bases while recording a double and two triples. He had three hits and drove in four in Thursday’s win over the Panthers by the bizarre score of 23-20, then lashed out two triples and drove in three in Friday’s one-run loss to the Oilmen.

Faoro logged six shutout innings and yielded just two hits, retiring the last 17 men he faced against Southland on Tuesday. He walked none and struck out 12. He received no decision in a game that was a pitchers’ duel through six innings but eventually saw the Panthers fall 7-0.

The league will continue to announce its weekly awards each of the next two weeks as the season comes down its final stretch.
