Joliet, Ill. – August 5, 2021 – Five of the nine Joliet hitters had multi-hit games on Thursday night. They had five hits total in two losses to Crestwood earlier this week.

“We had to grind and scrape today, but the boys got it done,” manager Joe Silva said. “That’s really all I can ask for.”

The Joliet Generals (24-14) defeated the MCL Minutemen (8-29) 10-7 at Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, Ill.

Bryce Vincent (St. Ambrose / Algonquin) and Andrew DeMatteo (Ripon / Orland Park, Ill.) led the charge offensively, each with three hits. DeMatteo tripled twice, and scored twice. Vincent also tripled, added a double, and drove in three.

Joe Virruso (South Suburban / Oak Lawn, Ill.) went 3-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored. Jimmy Cisneros (Harper / Buffalo Grove, Ill.) reached base four times on two singles and two walks.

“With the summer season, you’re going to go through lulls, that’s just part of the game of baseball,” Silva said. “That’s what happened against Crestwood this week, but today we stayed with our approach and it went well.”
