The Rockford Foresters announced the signings of 1B/infielder Tyler Leach from Rockford, right-handed pitcher Dustin Meier of Roscoe, and outfielder Israel Sanchez of Mission, Texas.

 

Tyler Leach:  Leach is a 6’0” 175lbs 1B/infielder from Rockford, IL and currently plays for St. Ambrose University.  Leach graduated and played baseball at Jefferson High School.  He plays on St. Ambrose’s team with fellow Rockford Foresters player Conner Kretz.

 

Dustin Meier:  Meier is returning to the Rockford Foresters after joining the team in the middle of the 2010 Championship Season.  Meier is from Roscoe and currently plays for Oakton Community College where he is a right-handed pitcher.

 

Israel Sanchez:  Currently plays for Sauk Valley Community College, which is where Rockford Foresters Head Coach Rene Valdez is the Head Coach as well.  Sanchez is a sophomore there and is an outfielder.  Sanchez is from Mission, TX.

 

With these three player announcements, the Rockford Foresters roster stands at 27.  The Midwest Collegiate League allowed 30 players to be on a roster.

 

About the Rockford Foresters:

The Rockford Foresters are a member of the Midwest Collegiate League, which is a six-team summer collegiate wood bat league that is based in Northern Illinois and Indiana.  Going into their second season, the team comes off winning the league’s championship.  The Rockford Foresters play at the historic 2,400 seat Marinelli Field, which is owned by the Rockford Park District.  The Rockford Foresters are owned by majority owner Joe Stefani, who is the youngest majority owner of a sports team in the United States, in addition to a group of shareholders.
