Chicago, Ill. – June 10, 2019 – After an exciting week of baseball, the Midwest Collegiate League has announced its second set of weekly award winners, with one Panther and one Viking represented.

Crestwood’s outfielder and designated hitter Reggie Brock Jr. (Chicago St. / Chicago, Ill.) secured the Player of the Week award and Southland’s reliever Trey Ricko (University of Tennessee – Martin / Plainfield, Ill.) earned the Pitcher of the Week award.

Brock had a phenomenal week at the plate as a designated hitter for the Crestwood Panthers, going 8-14 with four doubles and five RBIs. Four of those hits came in one game against the Southland Vikings that saw the Panthers fall 7-3 to the Southland Vikings. Brock’s impressive .571 batting average and 1.457 OPS helped the Panthers secure their first win of the season against the NWI Oilmen.

Ricko was impressive in his work as a closer for the Southland Vikings, pitching three total innings in his three appearances and notching one save. In those three innings, he faced only twelve batters, recorded six strikeouts, and allowed no runs on three hits. His reliability and poise on the mound helped the Vikings win three consecutive games and move into a tie for third in the MCL standings.
