WHITING, Ind. — The third set of players has been announced for the players of the week in the Midwest Collegiate League.
Amir Wright (Kentucky Wesleyan/ Griffith, Ind.) of the Northwest Indiana Oilmen had the best week of any hitter in the MCL. Wright went 9-21 (.429) at the plate, driving in a total of 7 runs. One of the runs that Wright drove in was to beat the Joliet Admirals on a walk off single in the 10th inning on Friday at Oil City Stadium.
Cameron Zunkel (University of Illinois-Springfield/Lombard, Ill.) of DuPage County has been named the pitcher of the week. Zunkel had one outing, starting against the Joliet Admirals on Saturday June 10, where he threw six scoreless innings, scattering four hits and striking out six. It was his first outing of the season for the Hounds.
