The Southland Vikings Baseball Club Announces the Signing of University Kentucky’s Outfielder Damon Saunders for the 2012 season.

Damon is an excellent athlete who earned a walk-on spot during University of Kentucky’s tryouts in the fall 2010, a tremendous accomplishment.  He was a great two-sport athlete at Butler Traditional High School in Louisville and has brought great athleticism and depth to the University of Kentucky’s outfield.

During high school he was a four-year letter winner in baseball for Coach Greg Lauder at Butler Traditional High School.  A tremendous athlete, also earned four letters in basketball … As a senior at Butler, led team to a state runner-up finish and a region championship.  He helped his team win district championship all four years, finishing as region runner-up during junior season … Was named all district and all region on the diamond as a senior … Had tremendous success as a basketball player, leading tem to the district and region championship as a senior … Hoops team advanced to the elite 8 of the state tournament and won the Florida Sunshine Classic as a senior … Also earned two academic letters in high school.
