Chicago, Ill. – June 27, 2016 – The Midwest Collegiate League has announced its Players of the Week for the fifth week of the season.
The MCL Hitter of the Week is the Northwest Indiana Oilmen infielder Tommy Szczasny. Szczasny hit .500 this week and came up big for the Oilmen on more than one occasion. On Friday, he came off the bench against the Hounds and hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 11th. Szczasny then went 3-for-5 on Sunday with a home run and five RBIs to help the Oilmen to a 9-3 victory over the first-place Joliet Admirals.
The MCL Pitcher of the Week is Seth Rosenberg of the Joliet Admirals. Rosenberg pitched six innings of no-hit baseball against the Michigan City Lakers. He struck out five in his start and improved to 2-1 on the season as Joliet took down Michigan City 10-4. That win was part of a nine-game winning streak that propelled the Admirals from out of the playoff picture to the top of the MCL.
