Highland, IN– JULY 26– Panthers are continuing to gain ground. With three straight wins, the Panthers are getting more and more comfortable in their playoff spot as the season winds down. This 8-3 victory over the Griffith Generals gives the Panthers their seventh win in their last 10 games.
The Panthers cycled through four pitchers in the game. Alberto Lamas got the start and only went two. Although Lamas did not have his best stuff, he limited the damage and got out of a crucial jam and only allowed one in his outing.
Keegan Bobbitt was the winning pitcher as he gave the Panthers a clean inning. However, the following inning, he loaded the bases and ended his night giving Jorge Santos three baserunners with very little breathing room. Santos exchanged a fielder’s choice for a run and then got two consecutive outs to magically get the Panthers out of that inning with the lead still intact.
Santos was huge for the Panthers as he went three innings allowing just one. Like Bobbitt, Santos started to lose his command and allowed some baserunners. With multiple runners on, the Panthers brought in Adan Vega.
Vega continued to be clutch as he finished the game allowing no runs on one hit and three strikeouts. The theme for the Generals in this matchup was being unable to bring in runners as they left a high total of runners on base throughout the contest.
Alonzo Raigosa had a solid day at the plate as he had a two RBI single in the second inning. Josh Williams had an RBI knock and a stolen base to his name. And Josh Outlaw had a SAC-fly to bring home Josh Lamb.
Arguably the most impressive day at the plate came from newcomer James Denten. Denten went 2-4 with a base hit and a two-RBI double off the fence in center field in his second at bat. George Bilecki, Jason Ballard, and Daniel Gay all reached base twice as well.
The Panthers offense remained hot and the pitching performed some magic to give the Panthers their third win in a row. Same place, time, and opponent for the Panthers’ next game Thursday, July 27.
