Griffith, IN– AUG 3-The Panthers avoided going into the playoffs with a losing streak. The Panthers continued their dominance over Griffith as a huge four spot in the last inning gave the Panthers their 10th win against the Generals in 12 games.

The Panthers offense struggled initially for the third straight night as it was not until a George Bilecki two out double the Panthers had their first hit.

Osvaldo Ballesteros’ terrific night was done as his team was three outs away from giving him the win. With one out and two runners on, a ground ball to third baseman Jordan Landkrohn looked like it was going to end the game. However, the ball went right under Landkrohn’s glove and the Panthers tied it.

The Panthers completed their miraculous comeback as they tacked on three more. The story of the night was position player Horacio Cabrales pitching some very solid innings and earning the win.

“It felt good to just go out there and compete for the guys and give us a chance to stay in that game.”

Cabrales did not expect to pitch as he has not toed the rubber in multiple years. However, Cabrales has been a name the Panthers have gone to at the end of the season to eat some innings and throw strikes.

“I have not pitched since high school. I had to come out of retirement and find a way to throw some strikes.”

Cabrales got the win in his three innings of relief and improved the Panthers record to 25-27. The Panthers will get an off-day Friday, August 4 and then will travel to Lake County to take on the Corn Dogs for round one of the playoffs.
