The Panthers offense is struggling. It struggled again Sunday as the Panthers tallied only three hits in their 3-0 loss at the Elkhart County Miracle.

Deandre Gilmore gave Jonny Crowell his first pitching appearance of the season. Just like he has been with hitting, Crowell was effective in his masterful pitching start. The former Flagler baseball player looking for a new home continued to impress, this time showing us what he is capable of pitching-wise.

Crowell worked through eight innings of three-run ball while only one of the runs was earned. The Panthers defense, as it did last year, struggled substantially. The Panthers had four errors in the whole game.

Two came in the first, as it led to two of the three runs the Miracle scored. They had another crucial error in the bottom of the fourth that immediately allowed a run to score.

The Panthers’ bats had no answer for Miracle starter Ethan Lengfelder, as he went six innings in which he did not allow a run and struck out five. The Panthers once again saw Vasquez out of the bullpen and things did not go better against him.

Vasquez took over the top of the seventh and smoothly got the Miracle to the finish line. Vasquez went nine-up-nine-down as he struck out six in his third save of the season.
