The Crestwood Panthers fell to the Chicago American Giants on Monday after lightning stopped play at the end of the 5th inning.
The 6-4 loss was the Panthers second in a row. After falling behind 5-0 early, the Panthers worked up a rally in the fourth inning by loading the bases. After loading the bases, Hobbs Dunne and Joshua Aguiniga had back-to-back bases loaded walks to make it 5-2.
A wild pitch made it 5-3 in the fourth The Panthers last tally came in the fifth inning on another Aguiniga bases loaded walk. After the fifth inning concluded, the umpires called a lightning delay. After some deliberation with the coaches, the umpires elected to end the game after only five innings.
“It would have been great to finish this game, but you can’t control the weather.” head coach D’Vante Glenn said.
On the mound, Jared Hunt got his first career start for the Panthers pitching four innings giving up two earned runs and five runs overall. Jacob Cook relieved Hunt pitching an inning of scoreless relief.
