The Crestwood Panthers dropped their second game in a row on Tuesday at Marian Catholic High School to the Southland Vikings.
The back-and-forth affair ended 13-9 in favor of the Vikings, which featured two ties and two lead changed. The Vikings took the lead early in the first inning before the Panthers took the lead briefly in the third inning. After another tie, the Vikings took the lead for good with a four run sixth inning.
Offensively, the Panthers got solid performances from a variety of players. Peter Fusek added to his league leading RBI total (22) with a two RBI single in the fourth inning. Alex Las also had two RBI hits on the day.
Hobbs Dunne also had an RBI single to extend his current streak of games with at least one RBI to three. Aydin Wright and Ray Hilbrich also added an RBI each on the day. Head coach D’Vante Glenn has loved the recent offensive surge the Panthers have had with it being their third game in a row of seven runs or more.
“It’s great to see their resilience and see them fight,” Glenn said, “It’s great to see them being aggressive and give it to the next guy.”
On the mound, the Panthers had typical infielder Jared Hunt start while newcomer and normal infielder Tyler Chaney finished the game off. Head coach D’Vante Glenn liked the effort they gave on the mound.
“They haven’t been out on the mound as much as our other guys, but to see them battle was great to see.” Glenn said.
The Panthers play next against the Chicago American Giants on Wednesday at Marian Catholic High School at 5 p.m. The Panthers are 4-2 against the Giants this season.
