Whiting, Ind. – In the last full week of baseball before the Midwest Collegiate League All-Star Game, two teammates from the Northwest Indiana Oilmen have been named MCL Players of the Week.
Tyler Sroczynski (Dyer, Ind./Trinity Christian) for the first time in 2017 has been named MCL player of the week. Sroczynski played in six games, going 11-28 (.392), two home runs with seven RBI. His two home runs gave him the team lead with three and his batting average has went up to .327 for the second place NWI Oilmen. Srocyznski is the reigning MCL MVP.
Srocyznski’s teammate Nate Thomas (South Bend, Ind./Northern Illinois) has been named MCL Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week. Thomas had one start against the Bloomington Bobcats on June 29 where he threw seven scoreless innings, scattering two hits, striking out 11. Thomas after the week, it lowered his ERA to 3.46 and has only issued four walks while striking out 29.
