Chicago, Ill. – Aug. 1, 2016 – The Midwest Collegiate League has announced its Players of the Week for the final week of the regular season.
The MCL Hitter of the Week is the Lakers infielder Anthony Olund. In three games with the Lakers this week, Olund hit for a .727 average and drove in four. On Tuesday, Olund went 3-for-4 against the Southland Vikings with a double and a home run, helping the Lakers to a 5-3 win.
The MCL Pitcher of the Week is the Bloomington Bobcats’ Dalton Hottle. In only his third appearance of the year for the Bobcats, Hottle pitched all of a seven-inning game against Southland. The Vikings only managed five hits in the game, and Hottle struck out four while walking only one. Bloomington won 6-1, and the next day the Bobcats clinched the league’s final playoff spot.
