Whiting, IN– The Oilmen diffused the red-hot Panther offense and manufactured an impressive offensive performance themselves.
Adan Vega got the start and was looking to have a similar start to his last one against the Corn Dogs where he went eight innings of three run ball. This start, Vega struggled to work around these Oilmen batters.
Vega went four innings and allowed five runs on eight hits. Vega’s biggest issue was not being able to find the strike zone as he walked four.
The Oilmen pitching staff came in shorthanded and it did not help when their starter was scratched from his start last minute. However, Jack West and the rest of the Oilmen pen were all spectacular.
Ryan Radanovich allowed all the minimal Panthers production as he allowed the only two runs and hits the Panthers had in his two innings of work. West, Sobkoviak, and Rossi were all perfect in their relief stints.
It was 5-0 going into the fifth inning as George Bilecki unexpectedly came in to pitch. Bilecki walked a couple guys including one with the bases loaded, but got out of the inning keeping the score at 6-0 and leaving three Oilmen on base.
Bilecki threw a scoreless sixth and then allowed one in the seventh to make it 7-2 Oilmen. The Oilmen flipped a switch in the eighth and scored eight runs including two missiles off the bat of Randy Seymour and Logan Anderson. Anderson’s homer was off of Aubrey Yarbrough as he allowed two hits in his 0.1 innings pitched.
The Oilmen won 15-2 and remained in first place. The Panthers are now 0-5 on the year against the Oilmen with four of the five games being at Oil City Stadium.
