The Bloomington Bobcats continue to impress early. They still hold first place with a record of 8-3. Mitch Weis (Illinois State / Ballwin, Mo.) leads the team and the league with a 0.31 ERA. He has only allowed one earned run in 23 innings. Weis also pitches an average of 7 ⅔ innings per game, which is a league high. On the offensive side, the Bobcats are being led by Cody Rogers (Illinois Wesleyan / Bloomington, Ill.) and Garrett Shea, who both have a .310 average. The Bobcats also have a team ERA of 2.65.

The Joliet Admirals are being helped along by Brendan Brundage (USC Upstate / Coconut Creek, Fla.). He has been on a tear, going 8-for-20 last week (.400 AVG) and hitting .426 on the season. He also pitched one inning in the 6-2 loss against the NWI Oilmen on Sunday. In the lone inning he pitched, he struck out one and did not allow a baserunner.

Chase Dawson (Valparaiso / Chesterton, Ind.) has hit the ball well so far this season for the Oilmen. He is hitting .458, however he has only 24 at-bats. Chase was a force to reckoned with during the college season at Valpo. He batted .253 with the Crusaders and was named to the Horizon League All-Freshman team.

The Bobcats have three tough road games coming up against the DuPage County Hounds, NWI Oilmen and Joliet Admirals. The games are big for all of the aforementioned due to how tightly contested the league has been through the first three weeks of the season.
