Typically, in a league such as the Midwest Collegiate League, one particular team does not dominate for more than just a couple of years.

However, the DuPage County Hounds are trying to continue their reign of dominance for the third straight year. The Hounds have made it to the league championship the past two years, losing to Southland Vikings in 2014 and defeating the Lexington Snipes last year.

DuPage County has come out of the gate strong, winning their first three games of the season. Mike Roberson has led the way offensively for the Hounds (.462 AVG, 4 RBIs). Peter Hamot will be a pitcher to watch for the Hounds. In his first start of the year, he pitched six solid innings, along with four strikeouts, didn’t allow a run and got the win in a 6-1 win over the Joliet Admirals on Friday night. This year is Hamot’s second year with DuPage County.

The Northwest Indiana Oilmen and the Joliet Admirals have both experienced difficulties early on this season as both teams only have one win. In fact, each team’s win came against the other. The Admirals defeated the Oilmen in the first of a doubleheader Sunday afternoon 9-7. The bats were alive for both teams in each game with a combined 28 runs between the two games. The Oilmen were able to secure their first win in the latter half of the doubleheader by a score of 7-5.

Early on, NWI Oilmen’s Cory Krolikowski (Minnesota Duluth / Bartlett, Ill.) leads the league in hits with seven and is among the top in average with .467. Matt Weis (ISU / Ballwin, MO.) had a stellar performance for the Bloomington Bobcats in their home opener last Friday night. He leads the league in innings pitched with seven, and strikeouts with nine.
