WHITING, Ind. – May 30, 2017 – The Midwest Collegiate league has announced its first Players of the Week for the 2017 season.
Joe Stewart (Michigan State University/Portage, Mich.) of The DuPage County Hounds will take this week’s honors, batting .615 in three games in a shortened week. Stewart hit two doubles and a triple, racking up eight hits in all. He helped the Hounds start with an early-season record of 1-1 (Monday’s game against the Southland Vikings was suspended because of light).
Jackson Bronke (Heartland CC/Bloomington, Ill.), is the MCL’s first Pitcher of the Week for his superb outing against The Northwest Indiana Oilmen on Saturday. In his start, Bronke struck out 12 Oilmen batters over six shutout innings and surrendered only two hits.
