Chicago, Ill. – July 11, 2023 – The Northern League has announced its weekly awards for this past week as Doug Loden (Oakland / St. John. Ind.) of the Lake County Corn Dogs has earned Northern League Player of the Week, while Steve Washilewski (Ball State[Kansas] / Dyer, Ind.) of the Northwest Indiana Oilmen has repeated as NL Pitcher of the Week, earning the honor for the second consecutive week.
Washilewski scattered nine hits over seven shutout innings while striking out four and walking none in his start this week, which came in the team’s 7-1 road victory over Elkhart County on Sunday. He earned the victory thanks to the stellar start.
Loden hit .333 for the week and launched a pair of home runs while driving in six and cracking three extra-base hits.
The league will continue to announce its weekly awards each Monday or Tuesday throughout the season.
