The Joliet Generals ran into some serious power from the mound and from the plate Tuesday night versus the Lake County Corn Dogs at Legacy Fields in Crown Point.

The Corn Dogs’ new addition to the roster, Peyton Olejnik, couldn’t be touched through the three innings he worked. He rang up eight hitters, allowed one hit, one walk and one earned run.
In the fifth inning, Doug Loden came up with runners on base and clobbered a three-run homer into left field to give the Corn Dogs a 4-1 lead. It was Loden’s fifth home run of the season and his third within the last week. He leads the Northern League in the home run category.
The sixth inning saw the Corn Dogs tack on four more runs from doubles by Gavin Terry and Loden, who had a franchise record six RBIs in the game. Tyler Schultz had a sacrifice fly in the inning.
The Corn Dogs tacked on one more run in the eighth to take a 9-1 lead. Brock Bevil closed the door for the Corn Dogs, with two strikeouts and flipping the ball to Bret Matthys at first for the final out of the game.
Terry was named the Macron Player of the Game, going 3-4 with a double. He is now leading the league in batting average at a .415 clip.
The Corn Dogs win places them at 18-7 and in first place in the Northern League by four games.
The Corn Dogs are back home Wednesday night against the Crestwood Panthers. First pitch is 7 p.m.
