Chicago, Ill. – July 8, 2019 – After another thrilling week of baseball that features multiple close games and comeback victories, the Midwest Collegiate League has announced their sixth pair of award winners, with one General and one Panther represented among the honorees.
The Joliet Generals’ Will Krushena (Denison University / Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) secured the Player of the Week award and the Crestwood Panthers’ Eddie Wilkins (University of Illinois-Springfield / Braidwood, Ill.) won the Pitcher of the Week award.
Krushena had a phenomenal week at the plate, posting a .526 batting average while notching ten hits and ten RBIs. Five of Krushena’s hits went for extra-bases, including a three-run home run that was part of a six-RBI performance against the Bloomington Bobcats on Friday, July 5 that helped his team secure a 15-14 victory.
Wilkins was dominant on the mound this week for the Panthers, pitching ten and two-thirds innings in two appearances. One of those appearances was a complete game shutout against one of the hottest offensive teams in the MCL, the DuPage County Hounds. In that outing, he recorded nine strikeouts while allowing only four hits and one walk to give the Panthers a 4-0 victory over the Hounds.
