Hammond, Ind. – July 15, 2020 – DuPage County kept on rolling offensively as they took care of the MCL Minutemen, 12-0, at Riverside Park in Hammond, Indiana.

The Hounds improved to 8-2 with the victory as the Minutemen dropped to 2-7 on the season.

The Hounds offense exploded for 12 runs to go with 12 hits to take down the Minutemen.  Jackson Dvorak (Missouri-St. Louis / New Lenox, Ill.) helped give the Hounds the big win with an impressive performance as he went 4-5 with a home-run and 2 RBI’s.

“I’ve simplified my swing to play to my physical strength.  I am really trying to stay short and let the ball travel to me and let my bat speed take care of the rest,” Dvorak said. “That along with pitch selection has led me to hitting the ball hard.”

DuPage starter Andrew Shimmoler (St. Leo University / Oswego, Ill.) threw four shutout frames and recorded 2 strikeouts to go with only one hit allowed. The Minutemen’s hitters struggled against the Hounds pitching today as DuPage only allowed five hits for the day.

“He got himself into a couple jams today and found a way to get out of them, he forced a bunch of double play balls.” Manager Ben Caple said, “He had a solid day on the mound.”

The Hounds offense exploded today, led by both Dvorak and Nick Zeeveld (Illinois-Springfield / Pleasant Prairie, Wis.) as both players hit home runs today. Outfielders Bryce Burton (Rock Valley CC / Sugar Grove, Ill.), Zeeveld and Aaron Staehely (Iowa Western CC / Sugar Grove, Ill.) combined for 5 RBIs today to help seal the victory for the Hounds.

“We made an adjustment to elevate the ball and see it higher in the zone and our hitters bought into that game plan,” said Caple. “As you saw today, the plan paid off and came into fruition and we started smacking the ball.”

DuPage County will be back in action Thursday, July 16 as the Hounds take on the Northwest Indiana Oilmen at Oil City Stadium in Whiting, Indiana starting at 7:10 P.M. on the Oilmen Broadcast Network, fans can watch the game via Facebook Live.
