Chicago, Ill. – June 21, 2021 – The Midwest Collegiate League unveiled its weekly awards for the stretch spanning June 13-20 on Monday as Northwest Indiana Oilmen outfielder Zamaurion Hatcher (Michigan / Chicago, Ill.) and Joliet Generals pitcher Nick Vollmert (St. Ambrose / Crystal Lake, Ill.) were recognized.

Hatcher became the first Oilmen player to receive a weekly honor this season, earning the MCL Player of the Week award. He hit a robust .538 (7-for-13) in three games this week including three extra-base hits, a pair of home runs, four RBIs, four runs scored and two walks. He had a pair of three-hit games this week. His efforts played a crucial role as the Oilmen enjoyed an undefeated week. For the season, Hatcher owns a .400 batting average, a team-high five doubles and nine RBIs.

Vollmert earned MCL Pitcher of the Week laurels after garnering the victory on Friday against the MCL Minutemen. He tossed six shutout innings of one-hit ball, racking up nine strikeouts and issuing no walks. Vollmert’s season ERA is 0.82 and he has struck out 13 against just one walk in 11 innings while posting a 2-0 record in his two starts. The right-hander is the first General to win an MCL weekly award this season.

The MCL will continue to announce its weekly honors each Monday throughout the season.
