Joliet, Ill. – June 28, 2021 – For just the second time this year, the Generals have lost back-to-back games.
The Joliet Generals (9-5) could not escape the Southland Vikings (7-11) in a 6-2 loss on Monday at Dowling Park in Hammond, Ind.
Jack Bell (Western Illinois / Minooka, Ill.) continued his remarkable 2021 campaign with another five scoreless innings in his fourth start of the season. Bell only surrendered three hits in the start, and is now the second-fastest pitcher in the MCL this season to reach 20 innings-pitched. He exits Monday’s game with a 2.06 ERA.
Jack Enright (Loras / Elmhurst, Ill.) singled twice and added an RBI out of the designated-hitter spot. Enright is hitting .474 this summer. Brandon Matias (Oakton / Glenview, Ill.) drove in his first run of the year on an RBI single in the fifth inning, but the Generals would not score again. Jimmy Cisneros (Harper / Buffalo Grove, Ill.) also doubled in the game.
“We still got three more games on the schedule this week,” manager Joe Silva said. “We still got a chance to win the week and that’s what matters.”
The Vikings and Generals are scheduled to face off three more times, with the season series tied at 2-2.
