Chicago, Ill. – July 26, 2016 – The Midwest Collegiate League has announced its Players of the Week for the week of July 18.

The MCL Hitter of the Week is the Lakers’ Tommy Fuessel. Fuessel hit .467 this week and drove in six runs while scoring three of his own. His best performance came against the Hounds on Sunday, when he went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Fuessel bumped his batting average 44 points to .275 this week.

The MCL Pitcher of the Week is Peter Hamot of the DuPage County Hounds. Hamot pitched in two game this week, allowing a combined seven hits and one earned run in 12 innings of work. He struck out nine while walking only two.

Hamot’s first appearance came in a start against the Bloomington Bobcats on Tuesday. He pitched seven innings and gave up one run, keeping the Hounds in it while the bats struggled. He left with DuPage behind 1-0 and on the hook for the loss, but the Hounds later came back to win in 10 innings. On Sunday, Hamot pitched five innings of two-hit ball without allowing an earned run and got the win over the Lakers.
