Chicago, Ill. – June 12, 2023 – The Northern League has announced its second set of weekly awards for the 2023 season.
Elkhart County’s Conor Gausselin (Aquinas / Battle Creek, Mich.) has been named the Northern League Pitcher of the Week, while Northwest Indiana’s Kevin Denty (Valparaiso / Tinley Park, Ill.) has been named the league’s Player of the Week.
Denty posted a .556 batting average (5-for-9) in three games (all starts) this week, helping the Oilmen to a perfect 4-0 record during the team’s first home week of the year. Denty scored four times, doubled twice and totaled seven bases while working five walks and compiling a .778 slugging percentage. He had three hits in the June 10 win over the Southland Vikings after drawing four walks and reaching base five times the previous night against the Indiana Panthers. Denty’s contributions helped the Oilmen extend their winning streak to six.
Gausselin logged eight innings of three-hit ball while yielding one run, walking two batters and striking out 11 in Tuesday’s 2-1 triumph over the Griffith Generals. He earned the victory to improve to 2-0 on the season. The Miracle have won the league’s Pitcher of the Week Award in each of the first two weeks of the season.
