Crown Point, IN– Everyone knows the more you walk people, the harder it is to win a baseball game. The Panthers learned that the hard way as they issued a season high 12 walks which was a big factor in the Panthers 13-3 loss.

Anthony Scanlon got the start and the Corn Dogs immediately got to him in the first inning. A Corn Dogs single and 2-RBI triple made it 3-0 in the first.

In the top of the third, the Panthers cut the deficit via a Robert Tate groundout that brought in Sohrab Rezaei. The Corn Dogs got that three-run lead right back by picking up one in the bottom half of the inning.

The Panthers did not score in their next at bats and Owen Winters led off the inning with a line drive homer to left to make it 5-1. Canon retired the next three batters and that put an end to his night.

Scanlon pitched four innings allowing five hits and five runs on two walks. Four runs were earned and he struck out four.

The Panthers brought in one run on a George Vilecki single and then brought in Mason Dunlop in the bottom of the fifth. This is where the command problems reached a high point in the game and eventually helped the Corn Dogs take over the game. Dunlop walked the first two batters before getting the first out on a fielder’s choice. Dunlop gave up a run on a SAC-fly and was only one out away from keeping it a five-run deficit. Dunlop then walked back-to-back batters to load the bases and then hit back-to-back batters to bring in two additional runs. The Corn Dogs scored three without getting a hit. Dunlop got through an inning, but his day was done. He walked four and hit two batters. Drew Westland came in relief in a 8-2 ballgame.

Sohrab Rezaei scored his second run of the night in the top of the sixth to make it 8-3. Rezaei was a bright spot in the loss as he went 2-3 with two runs and a 12 pitch walk. Rezaei likes facing the Corn Dogs as he is now 4-8 in two games against them.

Westland allowed one in the sixth and four in the seventh. Westland had major control issues of his own as he walked five batters in two innings. Unlike Dunlop, Westland actually got hit around when he found the strike zone as he allowed four hits in his outing. He allowed five runs and all of them were earned.

Beau Polickey made his pitching debut in the ninth and pitched the first scoreless inning for the Panthers since the bottom of the second. The Panthers went quietly in the ninth and lost the game 13-3. A very impressive bounceback offensively for the Corn Dogs as they got no-hit the night before. The Panthers lost their third in a row and the Corn Dogs reached their league-leading 13th win.
