Chicago, Ill. – June 13, 2022 – DeShawnte Carraway (Claflin / Harvey, Ill.) of the Joliet Generals and Justin Schassburger (Anderson University / Dyer, Ind.) of the Crestwood Panthers were honored this week as the Northern League announced its weekly awards for the third week of the summer season.

Carraway was named Northern League Player of the Week after hitting .444 (4-for-9) while slugging two home runs, ripping a triple, driving in eight runs and scoring four times. His biggest game of the week came on June 10 at Northwest Indiana, when he had two hits, tripled, homered, drove in four, walked and scored twice, helping the Generals to a 10-9 victory in a rematch of last year’s league championship series. This marked the second straight week a member of the Generals was named the league’s Player of the Week.

Schassburger earned Pitcher of the Week honors after he logged six innings of no-hit ball on Monday against the Oilmen, permitting just one run (unearned) while walking three and recording 12 strikeouts en route to the victory. The Panthers came within four outs of notching a combined no-hitter in that game. Schassburger leads the league with 27 strikeouts this season while holding a 3-0 record in 17 2/3 innings of work to go along with a 3.06 ERA.
