Chicago, Ill. – July 19, 2016 – The Midwest Collegiate League has announced its Players of the Week for the week of July 12. The MCL Hitter of the Week is the Southland Vikings’ Austin Blazevic, and the Pitcher of the Week is Christian Bokich of the DuPage County Hounds.

The MCL Hitter of the Week, Austin Blazevic, only played in two games for the Southland Vikings this week, but he made the most of his limited time. Blazevic hit .800 with a pair of four-hit games and six and four RBIs against the Michigan City Lakers and the Northwest Indiana Oilmen, respectively. Of his eight hits, four were for extra bases. Blazevic’s batting average jumped 45 points, and he drove in as many runs in two days as he had in the 19 games he played in the month of June.

Christian Bokich is the MCL Pitcher of the Week. In a win over the Michigan City Lakers Thursday Bokich pitch six innings, allowing one unearned run and two hits. He struck out seven Bloomington Bobcats and walked three. His pitching led to a Hounds’ win and dropped his ERA from 2.63 to 2.10.
