Whiting, Ind- A pair of DuPage County Hounds teammates have taken home MCL player of the week honors.
Joe Becht (Downers Grove, Ill./Santa Clara) has won the MCL player of the week for the second consecutive time. Becht put up another impressive week, going 12-27 (.444), with 7 RBI, 8 runs scored and 3 doubles. This week helped the DuPage county hounds keep there spot atop the MCL followed closely by the Bloomington Bobcats and the Northwest Indiana Oilmen. Becht is now batting with an average of .458, an OBP of .543 and 24 RBI. Becht is building up a resume worthy of a possible MCL MVP.
Cameron Zunkel (University of Illinois-Springfield/Lombard, Ill.) had himself a great week. Zunkel started two games for the Hounds. His first start lasted he went 5.2 innings against the Northwest Indiana Oilmen on July 18, striking out eight, allowing 4 hits and allowing just 2 earned runs. He then took to the mound against Bloomington on July 23 where he went 7 solid innings striking out 9 and not allowing a single Bobcat to cross the plate on just three hits. During the week Zunkel brought his ERA down from 5.28 to 4.10.
